This is an acrylic on canvas painting of a tree that stood on my grandparents’ property in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. There was something about this tree that I was always very much drawn to the yellow and green colors, the raised texture of the bark, and the drooping limbs.
During the process of working on this piece I was inspired by a painting that my great-grandmother had done of a tree. Like hers, I wanted the tree to sit at the center of the canvas, and I wanted the trunk to be the focal point.
